Online theory and a personal riding assessment with a CASI Evaluator — two 90-minute sessions that build the foundations your course expects. No mountain required to get started.
3 cohorts · starting Oct 15, 22 & 29 · online · from CAD $150
Riding a beginner progression and teaching it are different skills. This is where you practise teaching it out loud.
You feel good on the board, but no one has shown you your own riding against the Level 1 bar. Guessing is a stressful way to arrive on day one.
The fix: a structured head start before you go. You'll understand what Level 1 asks, see your own riding measured against it, and practise teaching the progression — so the course is where you refine, not where you find out.
The prep is built around exactly what the Level 1 course is looking for — nothing more, and nothing to game.
Linked skidded turns, switch, and the basics ridden to the Level 1 reference stance — balanced, controlled, repeatable.
The beginner progression, in order and out loud — straight run to skidded turns, with a first-timer in mind.
The five fundamentals plus a little board and equipment knowledge — enough to explain the "why," not just the "what."
One to build the picture, one to measure your riding against it. Live, with an evaluator — nothing pre-recorded.
Everything happens live over Zoom. The first session gives you the framework and the teaching progression. Between sessions you film your riding to a short guide. The second session is your footage reviewed on screen against the Level 1 standard, plus a teaching run-through. You leave knowing exactly where you stand and what to tidy up before the course.
The Level 1 reference stance and the five fundamentals, then the full beginner teaching progression — straight run, J-turn, traverse, sideslip, falling leaf, garlands, skidded turns — walked through so you can teach it, not just ride it. We finish by setting up exactly what to film of your own riding.
We go through your footage together with on-screen telestration, measured against the Level 1 standard. You talk through a short teaching piece the way you will on course, and we clean up the specific gaps — so nothing on exam day is a surprise.
Theory, then your riding assessment — live online with a CASI International Evaluator. Nothing pre-recorded.
Reviewed frame-by-frame with telestration against the Level 1 standard — clear, specific, honest feedback.
Walked through in order so you can teach it out loud — the single biggest thing new instructors are missing.
Exactly what to shoot and how, sent before session two — so your clips actually show what matters.
Sessions scheduled to suit the cohort's time zones once the group is set. No awkward hours.
Each cohort runs the two sessions over about two weeks. Small groups — max 6 — so everyone gets real feedback time.

CASI International Evaluator · 6 Years
I've evaluated and coached instructors across Canada and Japan, and I've seen what makes the difference on course day: arriving with the foundations already in place. This prep gives you that head start — a clear picture of what Level 1 asks, and an honest read on your own riding, before it counts.
Yes. Both sessions run live over Zoom. The theory is entirely online, and for the riding assessment you send footage that we review together on screen — no in-person day required.
No. The theory needs no snow at all. For the riding piece, send recent clips, or film once you're on snow before session two — a short filming guide tells you exactly what to shoot.
Your own riding to the Level 1 standard, plus your ability to teach the beginner progression, plus some technical understanding. The prep covers all three, so you know what's coming and can practise it.
No — and it isn't meant to replace one. It's foundations before your course: complementary to CASI training, run by an evaluator, to help you walk in prepared and get the most from the real thing.
The group (max 6) is the best value, and you learn from watching others' footage reviewed too. The 1:1 is fully private, with a deeper personal teardown of your riding and scheduling built entirely around you.
Sessions are recorded and shared afterwards, so you can catch up. The live time is where the feedback happens, so come if you can — and if a date clashes, reserve anyway and note your timing.
Two sessions, online, with an evaluator in your corner. Reserve a spot in an October cohort, or book a 1:1.
